Why Pilates?

Pilates mat strengthening exercise with small stability ball

Strength

Flexibility

Flexibility

Pilates exercises focus on developing strong postural muscles or “core” strength. The core includes the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles surrounding the spine. The core muscles are challenged to hold proper placement of the trunk, pelvis, and shoulder girdle within a variety movements of the entire body.

Flexibility

More conventional or traditional workouts tend to build short, bulky muscles -the type most prone to injury. Pilates elongates and strengthens, improving muscle elasticity and joint mobility. A body with both strength and flexibility is less likely to be injured.

Balance

Pilates exercises target several muscle groups at once in smooth, continuous movements that challenge balance and coordination. With correct technique, you can actually re-train your body to move in safer, more efficient patterns of motion. This is of utmost importance for injury prevention, sports performance, good posture and overall health.
